Pattern Modifications: Trimmed the skirt by 6 inches, which i thought would make a mini dress on me since I'm 5'1", but ended up making a tunic (or rather inappropropriately short mini-dress
Fabric: 1.75 yards of "Fashion Knits - Abstract Zebra Blue Poly Spandex" from Jo-ann. On sale and with coupons it was around $12 for fabric.
Notions: Used black thread, clear elastic, and bias tape I already had.
Fit: Made size L, with ~33" waist right now. I think the neckline might have been a touch too big. If it were smaller, I think the elastic might have laid better. The sleeves were a good length on me, hit at my elbows and were't too long, even without modifications. The waist was way too big before putting in the elastic, and even though I really really stretched the elastic, it still wasn't super tight.
Sewing Issues: I had the most trouble with the clear elastic on the neckline. THe fabric was slippery, the elastic was slippery, I kept getting the fabric bunched up behind the evenfeed foot, it was a mess. It still doesn't look super great, but I think it's still wearable. One of the sides of the surplice bodice needed a lot more stretching in the skirt to make it fit up. I have no idea why. I lined up the center of the skirt pretty well, I thought. I also had some issues with starting too close to the end of the fabric, and it got sucked down into the feed dogs somehow and had to be cut out. not fun, and ended up with some holes (that were thankfully in the seam allowance. Otherwise, the usual issues for me of keeping an even amount of seam allowance, and for hemming, keeping the stitch line on the right place, and not falling off the hemmed fabric.
