I used my saved custom size and added adjustments for narrow shoulders and large upper arm. In addition, I made a swayback adjustment to the pattern and added some extra ease at the hip. The pattern appears to be designed for zero ease at the hip, but I don't like a tight look here.
I have made two versions of this, the other in a deep aubergine colour. After making the first, I altered the top edge of the cowl neck. The top edge folds in to form a self facing, but it isn't quite deep enough and you can sometimes see the raw edge of the fabric in the folds. For my second version, I cut the top edge with an outwards curve to make it deeper, which gave a better result.
My fabric is a 85% modal/15% silk jersey blend. A beautiful fabric, heavier weight than it first appears and very soft and draping. Perfect for this project. |
